Background
In Edsby, courses may be associated with a set of standards. In Ontario, a very specific set of courses and associated standards is defined for every grade level and subject.
When standards are in place for your school and mapped to classes, it allows teachers to associate assignments and lessons to specific standards:
Setting up your mapping
Designating which standards should be associated with a course is easy:
- In Twine, navigate to Scheduling > Courses:
- Select a subject area, and then highlight a Course from the second column:
- Enter the Ontario ministry course code in the Short Name field:
Available codes
High School
For high school classes, the ministry provides a set of explicit courses and course codes. CourseIDs should be entered exactly as provided.
Elementary
For elementary classes the ministry does not provide explicit codes. We have created a set of codes using a convention of: ON.<grade>.<subject>
For example, 5th grade mathematics is ON.5.Math and 8th grade mathematics is ON.8.Math. Across elementary subject areas, grade levels of 1-8 are supported.
The full list of 5th grade course codes, as an example, are as follows:
Complete lists of courses and codes for both high school and elementary are available for download, below.
