Introduction
The following provides a structure for all the content required to build out a new website using Twine’s school web templates.
In each section you’ll be prompted with details for a single page or a single aspect of the site. In most cases, we will prompt for details on visual resources, content, and notes - please feel free to add additional details or questions throughout the document as needed.
About starter templates
Following are the details for site-wide branding, you’ll find details for each of the 3 starter templates provided by Twine. Also keep in mind we can simplify these sites, if you need a more simplistic site to start. We can add pages as needed, as your school grows.
About image resources
Your onboarding specialist will share a folder with you for collection of your logo, photos, and any other files that need to be shared.
In some instances photos should be sized to specific dimensions. A good web-based, free tool for resizing and editing images is Pixlr: https://pixlr.com/x/ You are, of course, welcome to use any photo editing software that you’d like. If resizing images is something you’re not comfortable with, please let your onboarding specialist know and we’ll make arrangements accordingly.
Permission for use
If you are utilizing photos of your own school, staff, and students, please be sure you have obtained permission for use of those photos on your public website. It is solely your responsibility to ensure you have proper permissions; we have no way to validate your rights to use any particular image.
Obtaining photos
If you do not yet have photos of your own staff and students that you are authorized to use, please obtain photos with proper licensing that are representative of your school. This may be done through a number of sources such as Unsplash, iStock, Getty Images, and ShutterStock.
As you go through the workbook for your chosen template here are some things to keep in mind:
Visual Resources
School Logo / Wordmark: You'll want a high-resolution version of your school logo, or logo and wordmark.
Colors: You may want to consider a primary color, secondary color, and a supporting color. Please specify colors in RGB or Hex format (for example: 117, 191, 45 or #75bf31)
Font Preferences: Each of the Twine templates includes default web fonts that are easy to read on both browsers and mobile devices, and that fit with the style of each design. If you have a preference for alternate fonts, please indicate those here. If your specific font is not available, we will do our best to select a font with similar characteristics.
Content
Social media links: If desired, links to your school’s social media sites such as Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and others, may be included as persistent icons or links as part of the site banner. Please include below the links for any school social media sites.
Footer information: At the footer of every page is a content block, typically used to provide address and telephone contact information. Please provide the address and telephone number you’d like to present, below (or alternate content, if desired)
